In the Face of Evil

June 7, 2018June 7, 2018 ~ pursuedby ~ Leave a comment

Living through Psalm 23 “Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I’m not afraid when you walk at my side.” It smothers. It’s a darkness and heaviness and dread like no other. It’s real. It’s so real that the word “terrified” only seems to brush the surface of its depths. Your throat fills, your … Continue reading In the Face of Evil

DAVID CRUZ// 1 YEAR// Son, your first mom, your mom who carried you inside her, named you David. The mother whose eyes you have gave you your name. On the one year mark of your Adoption Day, I feel the depth of this, the depth of her grief and loss and unknown-ness for you and her all the more. She chose your first name, it means Beloved by God. We chose your middle name, it means Cross. Beloved son, in any and all grief you have, in any and all joy you have, in any and all questions you have, may you always know and feel the truth, value, and hope your name declares—that your identity comes from the God who made you just as you are. That though your story is built on ashes, it’s being written in redemption. And while naming you is the only point of “togetherness” with your mom so far, we pray and hope that someday there will be so much more—And we are here for all of it our beloved son. #belovedbygod823 #adoptionday #fostercare #fosterthefamily #writtentospeak #inthewrightfam
{Anew}\\ Pull out the dead. Make room for the new. Stop trying to revive what needs to be removed . You are not lost, what’s died is not you. You are the reborn, the made fresh, the grown anew . Stop looking to the old, to the inner “you.” She’s not there—she is the dead, the buried, the resurrected forevermore . So stop looking to the flesh, to the dead, to the record or demands. They were nailed to the cross for you by His own outstretched hands . See instead the One who pulled out the dead to plant your new. To the filler, the preparer, the pruner, the growth Maker . Pull out the dead. Make room for the new. Stop clutching what needs to be removed. “Anew” is coming—fear not! Behold Him to become Him, as the whole and holy you .
